Christiana Figueres, the former Executive Secretary of the UN Climate Change UNFCCC, and a world authority on global climate change, will be a featured speaker at MI-3.
As a keynote speaker at the 3rd Mission Innovation ministerial meeting, Christiana Figueres will bring her energy and natural talent for facilitating collaborative diplomacy; the same skills that delivered the historic Paris Agreement in 2015. As Mission Innovation was an integral part of this joint effort to establish a collaborative path forward to limit future global warming to below 2C°, her participation at this annual event will strongly align with Ministerial level member country discussions.
Ms. Figueres will be featured as a scene setter of a high level Ministerial Breakfast on the 23rd of May.
"I am part of the group of optimists, Ms. Figueres said- the ones who are shaping solutions now and in the future, solutions that will allow bending the greenhouse gas emissions curve by 2020.For this transformation, research and innovation have a pivotal role to play".
Ministers from the 23 Mission Innovation member countries, investors and industry leaders will gather, along with Ms. Figueres, during the exclusive Ministerial Breakfast, to discuss the opportunities for aligning public and private funding to support the clean energy transition to the benefits of all.
Ms. Figueres' talent for diplomacy and declared view of the world with "Global Optimism" is a unique asset to the success of the 3rd Mission Innovation Ministerial.
